In 1998, The first components of the international space station were launched from russia and the US. The ISS will provide a unique place to study the Earth, and to see how the Sun's violent eruptions affects the operation of communication satellites, and the weather on Earth. the effects of gravity inside the station will be minuscle and scientists will be able to study a myriad of subtle biological,physical and chemical reactions, which are impossible to duplicate on earth. Complete construction will require a total of 45 space missions and many hours if space walking by astronauts. The station is scheduled to be permanately crewed from the eight mission onwards, due to take place in January 2000. Astronauts will spend many months at a time on the station, testing equipment for future space exploration missions...
